About Our Youth Ministry

At Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, we believe raising faithful young Orthodox Christians begins in the home and is nurtured through the life of the Church. Our Youth, Young Adult, and Family Ministry works to support children, teens, young adults, and parents in growing closer to Christ and living out their Orthodox faith daily.

We equip our priests, teachers, and youth workers with the tools they need to guide and inspire, offering parish programs and Metropolis-wide events that help families form a prayerful friendship with Jesus Christ—the Φιλάνθρωπος (Friend of man).

True formation happens when families live their faith together: praying, keeping the fasts and feasts, serving others, and participating in the Sacraments, especially Holy Communion, which sanctifies and strengthens us for the journey to God.

As Proverbs teaches, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (22:6). Our parish is committed to helping the next generation—and their families—grow as active, sacramental members of Christ’s Body, the Church.

    • HOPE (Holy Orthodox Primary Education) serves our youngest faithful (K–2), guiding children to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ through age-appropriate Scripture stories, prayer, and simple service.

    • JOY (Junior Orthodox Youth) continues this journey for grades 3–5, strengthening their connection to the Church through fellowship, faith exploration, and teaching rooted in Orthodox tradition

Both ministries are spiritual in nature — not mere clubs — open to all Orthodox children and welcoming non-Orthodox participants with warmth and hospitality

    • GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of America) serves middle and high school students, creating a safe and supportive space for teens to discuss real-world issues, grow in faith, and build meaningful friendships.

    • Structured into Junior and Senior divisions, GOYA offers monthly parish events, youth retreats, and regional activities—empowering teens to live their Orthodox faith proactively

    • The Young Adult League helps young adults stay engaged with their faith beyond high school.

    • It centers around the Four Pillars of Faith: Worship (Liturgia), Fellowship (Koinonia), Service (Diakonia), and Witness (Martyria)—providing a balanced approach to spiritual growth, community, and mission

    • YAL gatherings support young adults in transitioning to independent Christian living while offering leadership opportunities and deepening their relationship with Christ.

Youth Retreats

  • The Friday before Great and Holy Pascha our Teen GOYAns invited the younger children to learn about Holy Week and Christ’s Resurrection. This is a perfect chance to deepen their faith by teaching and by immersing them in the faith that afternoon with a service.

  • Each December our GOYAns come together to worship our God, service our community, learn about the Faith, and have fellowship with each other by competing in ginger bread house making, Christmas Card assembly, and baking sweets for Holy Trinity.

  • Beginning in 2023, our local College Ministry group retreats to the Metropolis of Atlanta, Diakonia Retreat Center. During this time they learn about the Faith in America, worship in a beautiful traditionally constructed temple, and love nature on the camp grounds.

  • Every year from December 27-30th our GOYAns travel to Atlanta to compete against the rest of the Metropolis of Atlanta in Basketball, Volleyball, and Bible Bowl. Opportunities for friendship, iconography, and chanting abound!

  • Recognized as the highlight of the summer, St Stephen's Summer Camp offers teens of the Metropolis of Atlanta entering 6th through 12th grades when school begins in the fall, an opportunity to spend a week at our Diakonia Retreat Center. Campers are only allowed to attend camp for one week.

Weekly involvement

  • Each Wednesday we have classes and opportunities for our children to learn about our history and culture. Classes include:

    Greek School: 4:30-5:30pm

    Greek Dance: 5:30-7:00pm

  • Altar boys arrive around 9:45am on Sundays to provide help in the altar for the Parish Priest and Deacon. Contact the Youth Director —Mr. Nick— if your son is 3rd grade or older.

  • Once a month we ask that our children and teens join our Parish Council members in greeting the Parishioners on Sunday Mornings.

  • Our GOYA Teens are involved in many aspects of our community and many Sundays they have projects and meetings to further their salvation and the salvation of the community.

  • Like many churches our community has a catechism class for the children to learn their faith in a way that they can understand. We boast a curriculum that matches any other in the States.

Volunteer your time

  • From preschool until High School we all learn about our faith in a room of our peers. We have a duty to educate our children on the Faith of the Apostles.

  • Currently we have two teachers for 4 classes between 3:30 and 7:30 pm.

  • 5 classes and 3 teachers.

  • Each June we provide a Vacation Bible School and request 16 Volunteers to make it happen.

  • If you have experience working as a youth worker. Anything you provide is welcomed and accepted.

Our teen group, GOYA, follows the traditional youth leadership officers: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Sergeant-at-arms, and Chaplain. Voting occurs in May.
