2025 STAMO LATTO SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE

Once more I am pleased to announce the annual Stamo Latto Scholarship in honor of my grandmother Stamo Latto, who lived in Charleston SC and Memphis TN. This grant is for young Orthodox women high school seniors in good standing at canonical Orthodox parishes of the metropolitan areas of Charleston and Memphis. Although preference is given to seniors, academically promising young women who are high school juniors are also invited to apply and may reapply as seniors, whether or not they have already received a Latto scholarship. Awards average $1,000, but range from $500-1500, depending on qualifications, competition, and funds available in any year. The minimum funds available for all awards is $3,000 per year and may also include unused funds from previous years. The purpose is to encourage a high level of excellence and purpose, as achieved by previous winners in both metropolitan areas.

This academic award requires excellent grades. Typically, past recipients were ranked in the top 10% of their class with a grade point average of 4.5 (on a scale of 5) or 3.5 (on a scale of 4) and in the top 10% of SAT andACT scores. Since the pandemic, SAT and ACT tests are no longer required though scores are strongly encouraged when available.
