WELCOME OUR INTERIM PRESIDING PRESBYTER, FR,THEODORE ROUPAS
In the Fall of 2016, under the instruction and with the blessing of his hierarch, His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, Reverend Father Theodore Roupas became a full-time student at Barry University in Miami Shores,
Florida so as to pursue a doctorate in the field of ministry / practical theology. Being the only Eastern (Orthodox) Christian clergyman studying in such a rigorous, Roman Catholic university of the Dominican Order reflects a commitment –via immersion– to intrafaith dialogue and mutual understanding. Currently, h e holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Furman University (2004), a Master of Divinity degree from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (2008), and is on track to complete his Doctor of Ministry degree (by 2026), having already successfully defended his doctoral thesis project proposal. Aside from his several years serving in church ministry, R
everend Father Theodore has not only a strong academic background, but also linguistic ability (having studied three other languages, in addition to English) and youthful, dynamic character. He has always enjoyed ministering to people of all ages and has a real passion for as well as education in the following fields: parish ministry, evangelism, systematic theology, sacramental theology, pastoral theology, soteriology, spirituality, eschatology, thaumatology, monasticism, comparative religion and interfaith/intrafaith as well as ecumenical dialogue –the latter of which is due to his having studied at three different types of academic institutions (that were predominantly Protestant, Orthodox, and Roman Catholic by background).
Furthermore, he has many years of experience in leading theological/spiritual discussion groups (i.e. book clubs, bible studies, youth group events, etc.),coordinating integrative activities, organizing pilgrimages to monastic communities and religious shrines, teaching and offering a variety of seminars/lectures (at colleges/universities, to religious communities and inquirers, etc.).
He foresees himself continuing to serve in the capacity of parish clergyman and/or university professor, through collaborative ministry and academic teaching. He is an avid radio amateur.
