Honoring Service: Church & Community Scholarship Opportunity

Are you a student who goes above and beyond in serving your church and community?

We are pleased to offer a scholarship opportunity to two deserving high school graduates or currently enrolled college students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to church involvement and community service.

This scholarship recognizes young individuals whose faith in action has made a real difference—whether through church ministries, outreach programs, volunteer work, or leadership in community service initiatives.

Eligibility:

  • Open to high school graduates and currently enrolled college students

  • Must show a strong record of church participation and meaningful community service

How to Apply:

  • Applications are available at the Church office

  • Or request a digital copy by clicking the link below

Deadline:
All applications must be hand-stamped by Cleo Stoucker or received by mail no later than 5:00 PM on May 30.

Award Announcement:
Recipients will be announced by June 16.

Spirit Seeking: Strengthening the Faith Journey

Please Join Us for a Lecture on Sunday, March 16, 2025 following church service Trinity Hall – small dining room

Fellow parishioner, Jackie Morfesis, writer, speaker, and community advocate, will present a lecture which will focus upon her love for God's Holy Word and give evidence of His hand on her faith journey. She will share ways that we can all strengthen our faith walk and develop greater intimacy with the Lord, our first and foremost Beloved. There will be a question-and-answer period following her talk and an opportunity to purchase her newly published book: "Spirit Seeking: Essays and Reflections on the Christian Faith Journey."

Jackie Morfesis holds a BFA in Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Liberal Studies. She is a former youth counselor at Ionian Village, and Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar to Greece. She writes a monthly column in the Religion section of the Charleston Mercury newspaper and has served in the United States and overseas with youth and in prison education and ministry.

The St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival (SJCOF) provides Orthodox teenagers the opportunity to write and talk about their faith. The SJCOF begins at the parish level with the:

The top speakers in the Junior and Senior Divisions will advance to the Coastal District SJCOF in Augusta (Holy Trinity) March 8. Two finalists in each division will then advance to the Metropolis of Atlanta Oratorical Festival in Savannah (St Paul) May 2-4. The top speaker in each metropolis division is then selected to participate in the Archdiocese Finals in Pittsburgh (St Nicholas) May 30.
